First of all, I am completely not in the favor of re-doing any past hit.
I had my doubts as the movie started and not only all my doubts were right but the film went even beyond my suspicion. Himesh felt he can be an actor, after the popularity he got as a singer His own music album director decided to make a film AAP KA SUROOR(title too of the album) fine Then the film worked at the box office, So now Himesh felt he should remake KARZ(1980) and get successful The promos kept showing his nasal songs, all sounding the same, nothing as g8 as the ones in KARZ Then there started showing some b grade style scenes in promos Himesh was overconfident that the film will be a success he as always went on events and promoted the film and made some fake comments to the media The film released and luckily bombed The film starts off with Dino Morea in place of the annoying Raj Kiran of KARZ, then we r introduced to Kamini played by Urmila and a rather funny take off on Prem Nath of the original by Gulshan grover who has a metallic arm instead of the glass in the original The film moves on, dino killed, cut to Himesh being re- born with a stage song and damn!! The first half is as lifeless as AAP KA SUROOR and then the only twist where Himesh tells urmila that he is Ravi Verma that too falls flat thanks to himesh's awkward acting The film is as boring as a 80's b grade film of Mithun Satish Kaushik ruins the remake, with every cliché possible thrown in Music(HR) is okay, but excess of nasal tone spoils it, EK HASEENA THI falls flat Cinematography is one of it's assets Performances Himesh went off his cap and came with a Japanese wig, The rest, well he plays a superstar like in AKS here too in the initial reels but when his character gets serious he acts like he is acting in a stage play, he is too bad his expressions when he conveys sorrow, pain, anger are such a joke The heroine is pure wood except those eyes Urmila doesn't age in the film, a big drawback her acting is unintentionally funny at places and alright at places Danny is a sore point, he doesn't impress and gets to the nerves Gulshan Grover keeps doing his madness Raj Babbar, Bhaktyar Irani have no scope Rohini Hattangudy is theatrical Overall, this is a terrible film but it's awfulness does induce some laughter. The abysmal songs deserve to be skipped and that's what I did. That Shweta Kumar has nice eyes (certainly better looking than Khansika Potwani). Though I can see why she would choose the role as it is an interesting part it's just that the film is too bad for one to take notice of acting. If you're only going to do a film or two per year, might as well pick something worthwhile. I still don't understand why an actress of her calbire would pick such projects. The makeup department does a good job in making the old Kamini look like a plastic beauty with hints of aging compared to the young babe of 1976. It's good to see her in a full-fledged villainess role again. Urmila Matondkar makes the best of her one-dimensional Kamini. He plays the reincarnation of Ravi (played by B-grade actor Dino Morea). Himesh Reshmi is quite bad (but he's not the worst actor around). Most of it is unintentionally funny and it is just plain silly. 'Karzzzzzz' is trashy cinema alright but it's not among the worst to come out this year. But if you really want to watch this 2008 box office flop, I suggest you only expect scant entertainment from this one!īad cinema can almost always be expected from Satish Kaushik and if you are to watch any of them, might as well gather your friends so that you can enjoy poking fun at the trashiness. Dino Morea in a special appearance, is decent. Gulshan Grover is wasted in an ill-written role. Rohini Hattangadi doesn't get much scope. Comparing him to Rishi Kapoor is like comparing a Fish to a Shark! As Monty, he has done fairly well.
Bravo, indeed! In the acting department, Himesh is not bad at all. Each song has a feel to it, and each is memorable. Why put these characters in the first place? Satish Kaushik's direction is alright. It leaves no impact whatsoever! Also, Characters played by Gulshan Grover & Raj Babbar do nothing in the film. It struggles to walk, but it is simply handicap. It's a musical, and yes "In This Department", the soundtrack is as magical as the original. Himesh, is Rishi Kapoor "The Iconic Hero" Monty. Urmila reprises the role of Simi, the vamp. But over-here, there is a new twist, which, simply doesn't work. When you remake a successful film, your ought to stay faithful to it. Satish Kaushik, a veteran in the Indian Film Industry, has made competent films before. A remake of the 1980 cult-hit 'Karz', re-titled with a thousand more ZZZZ, comes out a disappointment.
